The Painting Experience You Deserve (and How I Deliver It)

I'm Sam Nappi, and I built Nappi's Painting around the three things people care about most when they hire a painter.

  • I don't swap crews.

I'm on site with my trusted local Maine crew.

  • No surprise invoices.

The quote is the price you pay.

  • No ghosting.

If it fails in the first year, I fix it.

If that sounds right, let's talk about your project.

The Painter Your Neighbors Recommend

For the last five years, every new job I've taken has come from a Maine homeowner who told a friend. The reviews aren't a marketing campaign. They're how my business has worked since day one.

“Best painter in Maine. Did a great job on my exterior. Highly recommend.”

How We Get Your Project Done Right (With Zero Headaches)

Three steps. Nothing complicated, but I want you to know exactly what's going to happen before you sign anything.

  1. The estimate (free, about an hour)

I bring 20+ years of painting experience to your driveway so we can walk the project together and identify exactly what your house needs. About an hour, because I'd rather get it right than get it fast. Within 48 hours, you'll have an honest, written estimate based on my actual assessment of your house. Not a template. Not ChatGPT. The number I quote is the number you pay.

  2. The work (prep is most of the job)

When I say 8 AM Tuesday, we're in your driveway at 8 AM Tuesday. Prep first, because most paint failures aren't paint failures, they're prep failures. We scrape, sand, repair, prime, and protect everything we're not painting. Then the paint goes on. Same crew the whole way through. I'm on site regularly throughout. If something looks off while we're working, tell me. It's easier to fix before the paint dries.

  3. The walkthrough (and the year of coverage after)

Before we leave, we walk the finished job together to make sure it's exactly what you wanted. When my crew and I pull out, the only sign we were there is your fresh new paint. Every project comes with a written one-year guarantee. If you notice any issues with the paint or prep within that first year, just call me and I will come back to fix it personally.

Why I Care About Doing It Right

I started painting when I was 12 or 13. My dad told me I needed a job, and my brother-in-law's father owned a painting company, so that's where I went. I worked with him for 15 years and learned the trade from someone who took it seriously. He also taught me a work ethic that shows up in everything I do now.

I started Nappi's Painting in 2021. Five years in, every job I've gotten has come from someone I painted for before. That's the part I'm most proud of, and it's also what keeps me honest. If the work isn't right, I don't get the next call.

When the work is bigger than one person, I bring in painters I trust. Guys I've worked with for years, ranging from old hands to younger painters I'm bringing up. They're all local. I hire Maine painters only. I don't bring in out-of-state crews to work Maine houses, and I never will.

I grew up in Windham and still know most of the town. I live in Raymond now, but my roots are still down the road. I work with RSU14 when the school district needs a painter on a project.

I've lived in Maine my whole life. I paint houses in Maine and the money you spend here stays here.

Questions I Get a Lot

How much does it cost to paint a house in Maine?

How much it costs to paint a house in Maine depends on a few things: the size of the home, what condition the surfaces are in, how much prep is needed, and what kind of paint or stain you want. I don't quote sight unseen because every house is different. I come out, walk the property with you, and write the estimate myself, in my own words. Not a template. Not ChatGPT.

What towns do you serve?

I serve Greater Portland out of Raymond, Maine. That covers Portland, South Portland, Westbrook, Scarborough, Cape Elizabeth, Falmouth, Cumberland, Yarmouth, Windham, and Naples. If you're nearby but not on that list, send me a message anyway. I'm flexible for the right job.

Are you licensed and insured?

I'm fully insured. Maine doesn't actually require a state license for painters, so when other contractors say they're "licensed," there's no state license to point at. What you can check is the insurance, and I'm happy to send a certificate over before the job starts if you want it on file.

Do you do all the painting yourself, or do you use a crew?

I work with a small crew of local Maine painters I hire and train myself. No out-of-state hires, no rotating subs, no franchise call center. I'm direct contact on every project and on site through the job, so the person who walked through your house at the estimate is the same person you're working with start to finish.

Are estimates free, and how do you write them?

Estimates are free, and I do them in person. I come out, walk the space with you, and ask questions until I understand what you actually need. Then I write the estimate myself, in my own words. Not a template. Not ChatGPT. Some painters are running quotes through AI now, and those quotes don't account for the house they're actually looking at. I don't work that way.

What happens if there's a problem with the paint after the job is done?

If there's a problem with the paint after the job is done, I come back and fix it. I stand behind my work with a one-year warranty covering issues from how I prepped or applied the paint. It doesn't cover normal wear, weather damage, or surfaces a previous painter prepped wrong, but it does cover my actual work. I want my customers to call me again, and that doesn't happen if I disappear when something goes sideways.
